Naira Marley
A Lagos Magistrates Court has
dismissed a car theft charge filed by the police against hip hop artist,
Adeyemi Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, his two brothers and their
cousin.
Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias who
presided over the matter made the decision at the early hour today after
receiving a settlement agreement between the complainant, Mr Adelekan Ademola
and the four defendants.
It would be recalled that Marley,
his two brothers Idris Fashola, 18; Babatunde Fashola, 24; and their cousin,
Kunle Obere, 22 are defendants in the case and were arraigned on December16,
2019 but Marley was absent.
At the proceedings on the said date, Naira Marley again failed to show up in court and this compelled Magistrate Elias to order his appearance in court on the next adjourned date of January 14, 2020.
Mr Elias however struck out the
four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, assault and obstructing the police
from arresting Marley.
